March 2025 – North Wootton Academy
I spent a lovely afternoon at North Wootton Academy reading to over 130 Reception/year1/year2 pupils. We had fun discussing the next trips for Pellington and Welephant, writing stories and where the inspiration comes from, and suggestions for where I would like to go on my next holiday!
I look forward to returning in the future to expand on the excitement of travel and writing.

Brancaster Village Hall Winter Fair

Gresham's School
November 2024 – “Today, our Pre-Prep children had the most magical time as we were joined by the wonderful Sarah Henderson, author of The Adventures of Pellington and Welephant.
Sarah shared her delightful new book with us, taking us on an exciting train journey to Paris with Pellington and his loyal friend, Welephant. The children were captivated by the story.
A huge thank you to Sarah for spending time with us and sharing her creativity, warmth and kindness. We’re so grateful for the joy you’ve brought to our little learners today!”

Ingoldisthorpe School
November 2024 – Having been invited to kick off their Readathon challenge, I spent a lovely afternoon with Reception, year 1 and year 2 at Ingoldisthorpe Primary School. It was particularly entertaining as they were in fancy dress for the day. The 44 children in Year 1 and 2 were on first! They were enthusiastic and keen to share ideas of their own stories in the making, with at least one who would like to be an author one day. Reception didn’t disappoint with some great ideas for future travels

Littlegarth School
October 2024 – I spent the morning at Littlegarth School reading and chatting with Reception and Year 1. As always, I received some great suggestions as to where Pellington and Welephant should travel to next. As well as discussing the travel theme of the book we talked about how stories evolved and how they came into print. I also spent time with the school librarian and was extremely impressed by their library facilities and the children’s love of books.
Visits
Holmwood House School
October 2024 – I visited Holmwood House School for reading and discussion with Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. I was given some good ideas as to Pellington and Welephant’s next destinations. This was particularly interesting as many pupils had lived abroad. I enjoyed hearing about their experiences and could easily have spent longer with them. Following an introduction about how the characters came about, Reception were keen to spot the wellington boots as we went through the story.
Visit to Brancaster Academy
July 2024 – I attended Brancaster Academy for a fun morning with Reception and Year 1. After reading the story I answered questions and invited suggestions of where Pellington and Welephant should go to next. This has given me plenty of food for thought! The children had spent the week learning about other places in Paris and were excited to share this. The children had also learned to sing ‘Frere Jacques’ which they sung beautifully for me before I left. A fun time was had by all!
Visit to Glebe House School
September 2024 – I visited Glebe House School for a reading with Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. As the visit followed the summer holidays and the Paris Olympics we had an interesting chat about Olympic sports and sport in general. The children were keen to offer their suggestions for Pellington and Welephant’s next adventure with many destinations reflecting their own holidays.
